Mozart was a Red

Antony — November 4, 2011

We had a great night of lively discussion at the latest Victoria Libertarian Book Club meeting. Among the topics we touched on was Ayn Rand, and the similarities between her novel Atlas Shrugged, and our current book The Driver by Garet Garrett. They seem too eerily parallel for it to be coincidental.

Rand was a great writer with many insightful ideas, but she was also renowned for her overbearing and haughty demeanor, particularly with her followers in her cult-like “Collective”. One of Murray Rothbard’s lesser known works is his play entitled “Mozart was a Red“, a hilarious satirical portrayal of his experiences with Rand’s Objectivist movement.
